Corruption, Corruption, Corruption!!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8575663.stm

What in the world are we ever going to do to stop it? I mean play me a video of a starving baby, but the true story is those who steal from her mouth! There is more US aid given to this world than ever before. I am so very pleased to see the world finally addressing the source of so much pain in International Aid - CORRUPTION!!!!

My girlfriend & I were talking about all the lost gloves in Old Town. Here's an example. They are everywhere!

Outside the Governor General's House

The Bahamian Police Force Band performing after tea at the Governor General's House.

Young Ladies Club

When the girls get into 5 or 6 grade they join a "Young Ladies Club" where they are taught manners and etiquette. The young woman looking at the camera is - of course - Head Prefect for her school. It is amazing how some young women show who they will be at such an early age. This young woman will go far!

The Best Restaurant in Nassau!

I had one of the best meals I have ever had in my LIFE here. Tucked behind Christ Church Cathedral on King Street, it is not a tourist place. The snapper I had was on par with any restaurant in Washington, DC. As a foodie, I continue to seek the perfect meal. This came close! And, save for the two drunken guys who tried to bring beer into the restaurant, ALL diners were Bahamian. Yes, wine would have made the meal perfect, but the restaurant's food was nothing short of perfection!!!!

The Bahamas - Slave Stairs

These are the stairs used for bringing items, including slaves, to part of New Providence Island. I don't believe this picture captures how steep the stairs are.

The Bahamas Pics - Restroom?

There a many beautiful pictures from The Bahamas. This is not one of them but I love this image. I came across this walking out to see the mailboats.

Bahamas Pics - Tattoos

I personally can't stand tattoos. They mar beautiful skin. That said, if Anna Nicole taught us something, it is that life is fleeting!

And we are surprised how?

When I fly to Tanzania I fly over Somalia on Emerites. At 35,000 feet, they have no weapons to hit a plane. As for the corruption, can anyone truly say they are surprised? What a sad, sad place Somalia has become.
